According to The National, “Technology analysts estimate 5G connectivity will boost the GCC economy by $269 billion (Dh988.04bn) over 10 years with cheaper, faster internet access and connecting devices through the Internet of Things.”
Etisalat, the largest telecommunications company in the UAE, is planning to build 600 5G sites across the country within the next year. As part of the new infrastructure they strive to build 300 5G towers built during the first half of the year. Additionally, the healthcare, agricultural, transport, and finance industries are all expected to benefit from the 2019 5G rollout. Manufacturers are expected to launch the first 5G devices in early 2020.
5G Devices – No Need to Rush to the Store
Despite the rapid advances in which countries use 5G technology, there is not an immediate need to rush out and buy a new smart device for the sole purpose of 5G. While there are 5G mobile devices on the market, most areas of the world do not yet offer wide access to the 5G network, and it will be a few years before 5G is available worldwide.
